Terre fruitière
Terre Fruitière is a fruit and market garden farm in Dunham (Montérégie), certified organic by Ecocert Canada.
In 2010, Jean-Michel Schiele and Caroline Pomerleau founded this agricultural business in order to participate in the development of organic fruit production in Quebec. After trials with various fruit trees, their organic apple orchard is now in production for the delight of all those who had the chance to taste all their delicious varieties. Their experiments in growing plums, European pears and Asian pears have also started to bear fruits.
Caroline and Jean-Michel’s passion for agriculture also led them overtime to diversify their activities and they now grow, in addition to fruits, more than forty different kinds of vegetables. Flavour is given top priority when choosing the varieties to grow. Providing community an access to a wide diversity of freshly harvested produce, vibrant with colors, scents and flavors is a great source of joy in their lives.
Terre fruitière has also been part of the Family Farmers Network since 2016 in order to participate in the Community supported Agriculture (CSA) movement. CSA allows for direct links between farmers and citizens and increase food resilience in Quebec. You can meet Terre fruitière’s whole team during the summer at their multiple kiosks and organic basket delivery points in Sutton and Longueuil!
